This year’s revamped Golden Globe Awards brought several changes to the program. But it was business as usual on the red carpet, with hundreds of celebrities seemingly relishing the chance to give us something to ogle after last year’s strikes stopped many from posing for cameras at award shows and events.

There were ball gowns. There were sequins. There was lots of red — crimson dresses, candy apple heels, oxblood tuxedos — with dashes of “Barbie” pink and the color purple.

Aside from maybe Jason Sudeikis, who wore a crew-neck sweater that Styles reporter Jessica Testa said induced “flashbacks to him wearing a hoodie during the awards show-by-Zoom days,” almost everyone looked elegant. The 20 people on this list, however, managed to stand out just a little more than others.

The actress, who wore outfits inspired by the doll’s clothes for much of the “Barbie” press tour, continued that streak with a hot-pink Armani Privé gown and a tulle boa that resembled a loofah. The look was inspired by the Superstar Barbie toy.

The actor, a star of “The Bear,” wore a wide-lapel Calvin Klein suit over a sheer shirt. No items from his recent, nearly naked underwear campaign for Calvin Klein were included, as far as we know.

The “The Holdovers” actress evoked a modern-day goddess in a maroon Rodarte gown with a sequined shell-style bra that channeled Botticelli’s painting.

As the actress, who attended the ceremony as a presenter, walked the carpet, her gauzy Prada gown billowed behind her. The look was equal parts eerie and captivating.

The “May December” actor went with classic formal wear — specifically, a sharp, double-breasted Armani suit in navy blue, which he accessorized with a watch that had a like-colored face.

The “Beef” star’s white Dior gown had an elegant braided shoulder and it draped beautifully. But her signature eyewear was what made the look sing.

A glittering, floor-length Pamela Rolland gown made the actress, a star of “Barbie” and “American Fiction,” look a little like the statuette from the Academy Awards. Her glowing complexion enhanced the likeness.

The actress nodded to her role on “Sex Education” in a strapless Gabriela Hearst ball gown featuring dozens of subtly embroidered vaginas.

Two statement brooches added some sparkle to the slim Louis Vuitton suit worn by the actor, a star of “The Color Purple” and “Rustin.” A pearl earring dangling from one ear upped the ante.

The actress, a presenter at the ceremony and a star of “Oppenheimer,” continued her streak of wearing sheer fabrics with a gauzy Valentino gown that showed some skin beneath its floral appliqués.

It looked as if the “Oppenheimer” star had stepped off the set of a different movie (“Maestro”) when he arrived on the carpet in a black standing-collar suit and white pleated shirt.

The “The Bear” actress’s strapless Prada tube dress might have been the freshest red number of the night. Helping the look pop were a sheer train and a sleek bob hairstyle.

Sticking through the waistband of the “Past Lives” director’s Loewe skirt was a two-foot silver needle. The look, like her film, was understated and had the potential to draw tears.

A pearl necklace and belt chain spiced up the “Saltburn” actor’s Louis Vuitton jacket and pants — and helped hide the fact that their prints didn’t exactly match.

The singer looked thrift-store chic in a boxy Willy Chavarria blazer, a khaki skirt and Mary Janes with socks a similar color to her bangs. She accessorized the outfit by tying a black ribbon from a birthday gift around her neck.

Was her purple Louis Vuitton gown about as surprising as florals for spring? Yes. (Oprah is an executive producer of “The Color Purple.”) Did she look regal in the off-the-shoulder, sequined dress? Also yes.

The actor traded “Wonka” purple for a sparkly black Celine Homme blazer that dazzled with each flash of a camera. His somewhat-buttoned shirt was a departure for someone who often opts not to wear one on the red carpet.

During a preshow interview with Variety, the “Saltburn” actress described her look — a black tea-length Dior dress with a dramatic, lace veil covering her face — as having a “weird funeral vibe.” In the interview, the actress said that she had a skiing accident this winter and chose to wear the facial covering because she was concerned her injuries would not heal before the awards.

Though the singer’s “Eras Tour” film was nominated for a Golden Globe, her Gucci gown covered in sparkling chartreuse sequins seemed to be screaming “Reputation” about as loudly as possible.
